Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest national park situated in the Northwestern part of the country covering an area of 3,893 km2.However, the park has a buffer zone called Murchison falls Conservation area which include Bugungu and Karuma conservation areas. It takes 5-6 hours’ drive whoever, if you choose to visit the ZIWA Rhino sanctuary then expect an extra 2 hours.
This park has 76 mammal species including the big four i.e. Lions, Elephants, Cape Buffalo,Leopards, and over 450 species of birds such as the Hamercop, the Goliath heron shoe bill stork, Guinea fowl, the king fisher and many more. You will have a great time on game drives and the boat cruise on the River Nile. The highlight of it all is at the top of the falls where the powerful Nile surges through a narrow space approximately 7 meters and the water falls 43 feet below, this causes a powerful splash which is a spectacle to watch.
Day 1: Drive to Murchison falls NP
Day 2: Go for an early morning game drive, hike and a boat cruise along River Nile
Day 3: Travel back to Kampala
