Mahogany Springs Lodge

A five to ten minute walk from the northern gate of Bwindi, Mahogany Springs sits above the Munyanga River in gardens that run down to the water, with the forest canopy rising on the far bank.

Why We Love It

Proximity, and the fact that the forest comes to you. Gorillas have been watched from the terrace crossing the river below the lodge. After a long trek you are back in a hot bath within minutes rather than an hour of rough road, which matters more than it sounds at the end of a hard day.

The Experience

Twelve superior suites and two larger ones, stone-built with high ceilings, terracotta showers and private terraces facing the valley. Meals draw on the kitchen garden, and the spa runs post-trek foot and leg treatments that earn their keep after a steep descent.

Need to Know
