Overview
Eight days in Tanzania’s untamed south, far from the crowds of the northern circuit. We pair boat safaris on the Rufiji River in Nyerere — Africa’s largest protected wilderness — with guided walks among the ancient baobabs of Ruaha, staying in remote luxury camps where yours is often the only vehicle for miles.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam
We welcome you at Julius Nyerere International Airport and settle you into a boutique ocean-front hotel before the bush.
Days 2–4: Nyerere National Park
Boat safaris past yawning hippos and basking crocodiles, game drives through lion country, and an optional night fly-camping under the stars on the banks of the Rufiji.
Days 5–7: Ruaha National Park
Guided walking safaris among thousand-year-old baobabs, kopje-top sundowners and encounters with some of Africa’s largest lion prides — a tenth of all the lions left on earth live in this single park.
Day 8: Departure
A final dawn game drive, then your light aircraft back to Dar es Salaam for the onward flight home.
