Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa

Ocean Paradise spreads through palm gardens at Pwani Mchangani on the northeast coast of Zanzibar, with thatched round bungalows set back from a long stretch of white sand.

Why We Love It

Space, mainly. The grounds are wide enough that the resort never feels crowded even when it is full, and the rooms sit in gardens rather than in blocks. After ten days of early starts and game drives, a week here asks nothing of you at all.

The Experience

Rooms are round and thatched in the local style, most within a couple of hundred metres of the beach and pool, with balconies or terraces and mosquito nets over the beds. There are three places to eat, a pool with a swim-up bar, a spa with a sauna and hot tubs, and bicycles for the coast road.

Need to Know

This coast is tidal, so swimming works around the tide chart and the reef sits some way out; the dhow trips and snorkelling runs go from the beach. It closes our Savannah & Spice route. Read our Zanzibar guide.
