Gorilla Double Tracking Safari Details

DAY 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Enjoy a hefty breakfast in the morning, after which you meet your guide and driver. Start off your drive to the South western part of Uganda for Bwindi. This is the best area for Gorilla Double tracking. Have a stop at the Equator for some photos and souvenir. Proceed to Mbarara from where your lunch will be served. Continue on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Check in to your Lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 2: First Gorilla Tracking

Have breakfast and get ready for your first Gorilla Trekking excursion. You will be driven to the park head offices for briefing, divided into groups of 8 people and start trekking. The Gorilla tracking experience is a breathtaking one for an encounter with the gentle giants leaves many crying in happiness. The forest walk is a beautiful moment as you see a variety of butterflies, birds, monkeys and tress. The trek lasts between 2-8 hours, depending on how the Gorillas are wandering as they feed. You are advised to have packed lunch and drinking water. You may later on go for a community walk – visiting the Batwa pygmies. At end of day, have dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

DAY 3: Second Gorilla Tracking

After breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters for briefing and send off for the second Gorilla Tracking excursion. This gives you an in-depth encounter with the Gorillas The second trek may take you to the family you tracked the first time, or take you to a new family. The trek lasts between 2-8 hours, depending on the movement of the gorillas. You may also opt for a gorilla Habituation while on this day. This comes at an extra fee and prior notice.

Proceed for lunch after which you may pay another visit to the Batwa families or schools in the area.

DAY 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Have breakfast in the morning at leisure. Prepare and set off, driving to lake Bunyonyi. This is the second deepest lake in Africa, with over 27 islands on it. Majority of the Islands have well-built hotels and Lodges, with others preserved with flora and fauna. You may take a walk around the lake at leisure Check into your hotel, have dinner and overnight over the lake.

DAY 5:Lake Bunyonyi Boat ride and Community walk

Rise to a heavy breakfast at your hotel, after which you will take a community walk to a place where you can get the best view of Lake Bunyonyi. You will be amazed at the 29 islands, the unique one being Punishment Island. Many of the locals or guide will share with you interesting stories about the Islands. Head back for lunch, after which you head for a boat/ Canoe ride taking you to some of the islands.

Have dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 6:Transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe Airport

After breakfast, prepare for the return journey back to Kampala /Entebbe airport. You will have a stopover for lunch.
